NOS M8162 MULLARD SP QUAL ULTIMATE ECC81/12AT7 UPGRADE Whyteleafe factory, 1962
New NOS Military special quality version of the ECC81/12AT7.
Code: 650; then the Mullard Whyteleafe factory symbol [a square with a diagonal line inside it], followed by 2 2.
650 is the code for Mullard's earliest design of the military spec M8162, the Special Quality version of ECC81.
All made in the second week of January, 1962, at Mullard's celebrated Whyteleafe 'A' factory.
No other printing on them apart from the Mullard factory codes.
Lovely large copper posts.
Unusual super long getter post.
Mottled glass.
Mullard's seamed construction.
Very well matched triodes.
There's a lot of high praise out there on the web for the Mullard M8162, hi-spec version of the ecc81.
The earlier the production, the more popular they seem to be. There's a roaring trade in the early mottled glass 654 design.
These ones are even earlier, being 650 design - Mullard's first version of the M8162!
Please search online for more info on these. Commercially labeled versions are selling elsewhere online for US$145.00 per pair, so snap up a bargain.
Tested good for shorts; continuity; and emissions.
These valves have been individually tested for audio in a vintage studio, and are sounding superb.
No hum or hiss or microphonics - guaranteed.
Emissions test excellent - 100%+ as NOS valves.
