Reviews for Always ... Patsy Cline: Live At The Ryman Auditorium (1995 Original Nashville Cast):
Homage at its best!
I saw Mandy Barnett play Patsy at the Ryman in Nashville and was sure she was lipsyncing. I was truly blown away. She has Patsy down to a "T". Of course anyone who expects the real Patsy will be disappointed because this is just an excellent interpretation of the famous country star. I would recommend this for anyone who saw the play or intends to. It is a wonderful reminder of a real friendship between Loiuse (through her story telling) and one of country musics pioneers.
I also recommend Mandy Barnetts CD's for those who like authentic country. She maintains her own identity without sounding like Patsy.
What a Wonderful Musical
Well, I don't actually have the CD, but a long time ago my family went to Roanoke, VA and saw this play at a Theatre. It was fabulous. This is a true story about a lady named Louise, who became friends with Patsy Cline at a concert. They kept in touch and wrote each other letters. And I hope that they decide to make a movie version of this musical, it is so much better than the Jessica Lange movie.
One of the BEST live cast albums - Mandy make you hear Patsy
TOP NOTCH VOCALS .... This show way very popular in the early 90's as a touring company. It played all over the US in many different cities staring different actresses and singers. It wasn't until Opryland Entertainment decided to give this show a run at the Ryman Auditorium did they find Mandy Barnett to play Patsy Cline. And did she play PATSY CLINE!! This recording of the show it timeless. You would think that you were listening to Patsy herself. This is a true story about a woman, Louise, who befriended Pasty after becoming infatuated about seeing her live. While at the show they hit it off and the woman helps Patsy, who has traveled to this show by herself. They decide that their lives are a lot alike and want to keep in touch through letters. It is narrorated by Louise and then Patsy's songs are added in when appropriate. It's touching at times and very funny along the way. However the best part of this is the top notch vocals of Mandy Barnett. She sounds so much like Patsy and even has the same vocal inflections in her voice. This is a MUST for all Patsy Cline fans and even for those that enjoy great sounding country music! Mandy's now records her own music and has her own style. Her last album was produced by Patsy Cline producer Owen Bradley. This lady can SING!
