The Sphinx Project Twelve mono power amplifier’s most striking feature is the ‘ease’ with which it delivers the most complex sounds to the most difficult loudspeaker loads. The sound is always open and transparent but at the same time the sound field has an enormous ‘depth’. The sound quality is on par with those of much more exotic (and expensive) models on the market.
The design reflects the long experience of the Sphinx design team with specially selected power FETs. These have an extremely wide power bandwidth, a very high slew rate and an unequalled phase linearity over the complete frequency bandwidth. Each amplifier channel uses six of these 100 W FETs ensuring extremely high reliability.
Combined with the very ‘heavy’ power supply and its large energy buffer of 23,160 µF, this results in an effortless sound with a large dynamic range and unsurpassed transient response.
The amplifier has numerous protection circuits to prevent all kinds of disasters: however none of these is placed in the signal path. So reliability and audio quality are guaranteed for countless years of musical listening pleasure.
The Project Twelve will drive every loudspeaker (even the most difficult ones like electrostatic and magnetostatic).
