1:I received the 3 cd's set with great anticipation. I was disappointed that there was no actual playing and/or interaction with the students involved. The 'legendary' numerous wrong notes by Cortot do not bother me at all (however that may bother some listeners). Cortot is obviously trying to instill his 'romantic and dramatic' vision of music in all the musical styles involved, and that is the best part of the cd. What a pity that there couldn't be a video of those master-classes ! I also enjoyed Cortot's imagery and constant connection with the passionate world of music with all the repertoire involved. A+ for providing English translations in the booklet - so I will be able to share the recordings with my students. I first listened to the cd's on my car stereo, and it is definitely a bad idea, as you have to boost the sound to hear Cortot speak- and turn it way down when he plays (placement of mike, obviously). I found that quite annoying, but it was satisfactory on my home stereo. The unfamiliar to Cortot artistry may find this set disappointing, and others will find enough glimpses of Corot's genius here and then...to be worthwhile.

2:very interesting as many recordings which are not otherwise available can be heard to appreciate the greatness of the musical master who i first heard his recital in genoa in 1949 and have his work on 78 records as well.

3his new Sony Classical publication may interest a great number of piano lovers all around the world - provided they speak French fluently ! You can listen to Cortot (1877-1962) here in a repertoire that was unknown on record to anyone, such as Mozart Fantasy in C minor and so forth. Perahia's liner notes are fine, though not as much developed as they could have been. This set must be seen as historical testimony, but shall not make forget Cortot played an influent political role in the pro-nazi Vichy Government during the War.
