唱片的开始是莫扎特的双钢琴奏鸣曲 KV 448。列文涅夫妇录制与1939年5月,整首曲子没有人们常见的起伏很大的强弱对比,旋律线异常的清晰流畅,而在一些低音的处理上则完全依照MOZART那个年代古钢琴的演奏方法,基本上没使用踏板,而是完全依靠手指上精湛的功力来达到效果。
接下来的1920年录制的舒曼的托卡塔op.7,听到这首舒曼的钢琴曲我仿佛似曾相识,EMI公司HOROWITZ录制同曲目的录音在分句和节奏的处理上有几分相似之处,都是那么的精神抖擞、神采奕奕(唱片的最后拉赫玛尼若夫的G小调前奏曲OP.23 NO.5也是horowitz最拿手的曲目之一),但听了列文涅的演奏后感觉少了些铿锵金属的火爆,仿佛潺潺溪流,毫无停顿滞流之感,音色异常的温暖通透。
舒曼/karl Tasig的Der Kontrabandiste的节奏感让人的思绪不由的伴随起翩翩其舞、柴科夫斯基的Trepak中滑奏技术无懈可击,曲高潮部分充满了狂热的斯拉夫节奏,而贝多芬的Ecossaises则几乎达到了完美的平衡,但遗憾的是20年的录音都存在着唱片拷贝聚焦不准的缺陷,仿佛快熄灭的钨丝般吱吱做响。舒曼/李斯特的Fruhlingsnacht演奏轻盈无比,而德彪西/拉威尔的Fetes(for two pianos)则充满了色彩。
应该说整张唱片最让人难忘的还是录制于1935-36年的肖邦钢琴曲。练习曲激情四射有精准无比,前奏曲op.28 16和17,一明一暗,颗颗音符都直击心灵深处。而波兰舞曲“英雄”更是感觉余音绕梁回味无穷。
唱片上还有Schulz-Evler改编的斯特劳斯的蓝色多瑙河,连奏技术华丽无比,极富深情的延音高贵异常,是约瑟夫.列文涅代表之一。
