电子管壁发黄，最大的可能性是玻璃壳的含铅量高。玻璃含铅量少时，玻璃壳易脆裂，因此制作真空管时，其玻璃壳均要求一定的含铅量。但铅在电子的轰击下会逐渐析出，产生发黄现象。如果玻璃壳内消气剂并未明显减少，应该对真空管使用不会有影响。
